Tanis Parenteau captures the rhythms of Navajo speech as the author populates the landscape with keen characterizations of mythological beings, Law Dogs, Thirsty Boys, and other survivors. Monster-hunter Maggie Hoskie, who is imbued with the powers of her family clan, is a reluctant and complex heroine. Parenteau's voice is at turns steely and vulnerable as the solitary young woman seeks answers about strange new demons.

A member of the Métis Nation of Alberta and of Cree and Sioux descent, Parenteau talks with the Messenger about roles for Native American women, about moving between the stage and screen, and about Ashland.

The play resonates beautifully on many levels at once, and the OSF actors competently handling the material.

Tanis Parenteau, playing the role of Jane Snake in Manhattan and Le-le-wa’-you in Manahatta, is brilliant, on fire with the passion of newness and opportunity.

Tanis Parenteau is strikingly bold, inventive, and intelligent as both Jane and Le-le-wá-you.
Parenteau does great work here and gives a multi-layered performance. I especially like what she does with Jane.
Every actor in this play shows great range. The actors make their transitions from one time period to another brilliantly.

The ever-transitioning sets and staging are brilliant. So is the cast.

"W. Tre Davis and Tanis Parenteau have palpable chemistry, which makes the twist at the end all the more devastating."
Picture
"Roberta (Tanis Parenteau in a moment-to-moment powerful portrayal) bring us to an unexpected edge-of-our-seat reveal."

Picture
"Davis and Parenteau introduce their characters with charm and intrigue, so spending 20 minutes in bar with them is enjoyable. The acting and directing in all three offerings is obviously the work of consummate professionals."

"Roberta Laforme (played with seductive aggressiveness by Tanis Parenteau)"
Picture
"Under Kel Haney's direction, the piece works as a calling card for W. Tre Davis and Tanis Parenteau, skilled performers both."
