Jason Ferruggia has five terrific weight training strategies for beginners

I've been a fan of Jason Ferruggia's for many years now. I've followed his work and he has also coached me into the best shape of my life. His blog is a terrific source of training and nutrition advice and also for inspiration to live your best life. I really look up to this man. 

I get asked a lot about what to do for people who are just starting out with weight training. Jason has written a great article on this subject. Short and sweet and to the point. Listed below are his five strategies for beginners.
 

1. Squat, deadlift, & press.
2. Incorporated bodyweight exercises in every program.
3. Follow the rule of progressive overload.
4. Use a full body workout or upper/lower split.
5. Carry heavy stuff.
